ALEXANDRA (THE) ~ MCA 1176

MANZANITA - Light, bright, open and inviting modern version of the classic beach house. A short 2 minute walk to the beach or downtown, this home is both quiet and private, nestled on a tree-filled corner lot located at Manzanita and North Carmel and lies directly on the Manzanita portion of the 4th of July parade route. The 3BD/2BA home has been finished in soothing paint colors. With few area rugs and washable furniture, it is well suited for those with allergies or asthma.


Approaching the stairs, guests are greeted by a large deck offering privacy of evergreen branches and a decorative cedar privacy screen. This "outdoor living room" is perfect for entertaining with table, folding chairs and gas bbq. The large, light filled entry offers a window seat to sit down, kick off your shoes and hang your coat. The living room features high ceilings and ceiling fan, with clear story windows to the west and tall windows to the east looking onto pine trees. There are two seating areas. One to sit and enjoy the stone hearth fireplace (gas), and the other for you to enjoy the state of the art flat screen TV w/surround sound, Blu-ray player and collection of DVDs. The dining room looks out onto the deck through a sliding glass door flanked by windows, with seating for eight around the large cedar plank table constructed of old growth timber salvaged from the nearby Nehalem River. The kitchen has a picture window and vaulted ceiling, with new stainless appliances, cabinets, solid surface counter tops, and is outfitted for a chef.


Each bedroom has its own unique style. Upstairs the King bedroom is eclectic shabby chic, downstairs the king bedroom in soothing grey, and the dual bunk bed room in pine. All have ample storage with dressers and wardrobe or to accommodate longer stays.


Main floor bath renovations include heated tile floors, walk-in shower and double sinks. The downstairs bath is a modern take on the classic bead-board bath in aqua and white, featuring a bath/shower combo and double sinks.


Just down the hall from the downstairs bedrooms are the second living area and laundry room. The living room has two queen futons and a recliner, 55" flat screen TV w/surround sound, Blu-ray player and Wii gaming console (bring your games). The laundry has full-sized W/D and spacious cabinet and counter top area.

  We had a great time at this rental. The house is beautiful, spacious and very comfortable.
  There are a few issues.
  One, there are no curtains except in bathrooms and bedrooms. We found that slightly uncomfortable as there are large windows all over the house and we felt a lack of privacy.
  The other issue is the bedding. The quilts and sheets are clean enough but very old. Threadbare is the word to describe them. We ended up using our own linen.
  Otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  Very nice home. Lives up to its pictures. Great atmosphere. Nice deck. Large and open great room with two intimate seating areas. So nice to sit around the fire. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils, etc and even some spices, etc. The beach is 1 block away and town is even closer than that. Friends reported that the king bed downstairs was very comfortable. We didn't use the bunk room. The queen bed upstairs was too squishy for our tastes but at least had nice linens, mattress cover, and no plastic sheet etc like I find at other rental homes. Rental company was very responsive and even sent someone out immediately to fix a wall heater.

  We (four adults) found this home to be clean, comfortable, and roomy. The large windows in the kitchen, dining and living areas provide lots of natural light, even with rainy weather (which we experienced).
  - dining area has a large plank table and plenty of seating. Good lighting.
  - living room is spacious with two seating areas: one around the fireplace, the other for TV viewing. Mounted surfboards are very cool focal points. The media storage unit contains a wide variety of DVDs.
  - the kitchen was spotless, well stocked with a wide assortment of cookware and cooking utensils, plates, bowls, and eating utensils. Lots of food prep space. No evidence of pests.
  - bedrooms were spacious with quality furnishings and artwork. Bedding and linens were clean. Ample storage for clothing. Beds were comfortable. Good lighting.
  - bathrooms were roomy. Double sinks, lots of counter space. Main floor bathroom has large walk-in shower and heated tile floor (felt good during our cold weather stay). More towels than we could use.
  - we didn't use the bedroom with the bunk beds or the downstairs living area, but they were clean and the decorating is cool. The laundry room is spacious.
  
  This home is just a block away from the main street for restaurants and shoppIng, and two blocks from the beach. It is in a quiet neighborhood.
  
  The property mgmt team was helpful and organized. We didn't have any issues but feel that the property managers would have responded quickly if there had been problems.

  This beautifully maintained and decorated open-concept home, just a short walk to the beach and an even shorter walk to the sweet little downtown of Manzanita, was just perfect for our family of 6 adults and 3 grandchildren! We enjoyed every moment of our week there!
  The house is large and is furnished with more than enough towels, blankets and kitchen supplies. It has many large windows that, even on the one drizzly day we had, allowed in the light and coastal breezes. It is on two levels but we brought a baby gate to block off the stairs and our two babes scooted around on the wood floors to their hearts content. We also enjoyed the large deck outside and felt totally secluded from our neighbors, almost like we were in a tree house.
  Thank you, SVR, for the use of The Alexandra, a fitting name for this lovely home. Many sweet memories were made there! We will return to Manzanita, for sure!!

  We stayed at the Alexandra for a couple of days while a plumbing problem got sorted out at the house we were renting. It quickly became known as the fancy house. Everything inside was clean, beautifully decorated, and comfortable. The dining area and large patio were great because everyone could sit comfortably at the table. The kids enjoyed the bunk beds and downstairs rec room. Both the walk to town and to the beach were short and easy. We really appreciated the rental company helping us out with such luxurious digs.

The house has a terrific central location, close to both town and beach, and the house is furnished with modern and comfortable furnishings. The kids loved the bunk room and the bonus room downstairs complete with a Wii! The kitchen was very well outfitted and while it was too chilly for us to enjoy the large deck, we'll return in warmer months for meals outdoors. A great choice for two families with kids, we'll definitely come back to the Alexandra!

  We were very disappointed that the WEEE didn't work as it was advertised. The handy man came to try and fix it but it just hadn't been installed the rental company didn't know anything about it. We had 4 ten year old boys who were looking forward to playing with it. It was one of the reasons that we rented the house. We were sorry for the misrepresentation. The quality of the king bed was also disappointing it is a futon which in our aging bodies is just not comfortable. so we had to sleep on a small size mattress upstairs which was comfortable but small. The house otherwise was great.

  In terms of condition, this was far and away the best vacation home that we've stayed at in Manzanita. The walk to the beach is and easy 2 blocks. Walk to downtown is a mere block.
  
  This is not an oceanfront or ocean view home; but makes up for it by being nice an airy with vaulted ceilings and while on the second floor (the main floor) you feel like you're surrounded by the forest.
  
  The main room layout is "great room" style. Open and inviting. An area to watch TV, an area to read by the fire (or play board games) - a nice large dining room area to put puzzles together or just gather. None of those "areas" are small either - this a very large great room.
  
  Bathrooms are well appointed and fresh.
  
  Kitchen outfitted with plenty of plates, utensils, pots and pans. Probably as close to a "gourmet" kitchen that you can get to at the beach and a reasonable cost.
  
  I wish the ratings would go to 11 on this one.

  Clean, spacious, great location. Nice place, would stay there again if there was a stereo as advertised. Unfortunately there was not. There were 2 flat screens however. Why would a vacation beach rental need two of these? It would have been nice to kick back and listen to music. I called sunset rentals on this and their response was "oh well, I guess there is no stereo". At least a cheap $100 portable system like Altec Lansing could have been provided. Anyway, I would not stay here unless the situation were fixed. Otherwise a great place to stay.

  Just spent a week in Manzanita with my daughter's family, and because the home was so comfortable and the town was so friendly, we plan to make this an annual event. We definitely will plan to stay at The Alexandra. It is a beautiful beach home.

  The Alexandria was a beautiful property. We all enjoyed our stay and my relatives from out of state especially liked how easy it was to walk downtown to visit the shops, eat or get coffee. The location made them feel independent and less reliant on us to drive them places. We look forward to visiting Manzanita again over the 4th of July and I know everyone will want to stay at this house.
